A Little About Us..
|
Kia Ora. Welcome to my humble homepage. I have met a number of people on the net who have asked me, "Where is New Zealand and whats it like?", so I thought I would throw a few words and pictures on a page, for them and you to look at and be sure to check the out links at the bottom of the page,,for a more detailed tour around New Zealand... Basically, we are three main Islands and several smaller ones, bobbing around in the South Pacific Ocean. Just a little to far south to be all palm trees and tropical lagoons, we still have some of the cleanest and greenest country around. We New Zealander's pride ourselves on being Nuclear Free,as well. The snow capped Southern Alps, watch over the many sounds, inlets and fjords that stretch the length of the larger South Island. The smaller but more populated North Island is dotted with active volcanos, overlooking rolling pasture, volcanic plateau's, beautiful lakes and native forests. A combined area of 270,534 sq Km's, the Islands are shared by a population of 3.6 million people and more sheep than anyone can count. The Kiwi, our cute little flightless National icon, shares its home enviroment with an array of other native birds and animals, none which, may I add bite. Our country is home to many cultures,, the most important of those being that of the Moari, the indegenous people of this country. Aotearoa, translated from the Moari language means, The Land of The Long White Cloud. Well, I thats about it for the country, so maybe we can move on to the next question...

Firstly, I'm a down to earth mother of two teenage kids, both in their last years of school. My daughter at 17, is establishing a career in Television and Film, directing and editing. She is already working part-time in the industry. Her brother at 16,is getting ready to sail the seven seas as a Weaponsman in the Royal New Zealand Navy. Secondly, and equally important, I'm working in the medical feild,in a hands on position. My work brings me into contact with a wide variety of people, and I appreciate the diversity of each and everyone.. The city we live in, Lower Hutt is situated just north of the countries capital city Wellington, on the southern tip of the North Island. When I'm not working or rounding up kids, outdoor pursuits are close to my heart. Camping, beach and bush walking, fishing(and theres plenty of that here)and looking after the birds I breed. When there is a quiet moment reading and playing on my puter, keep me happy.
